Statement of Faith
- We believe there is one eternal God, the Creator of all things, who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; Colossians 1:16-17; Revelation 1:8)
- We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect, sinless life. (Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31-35; Hebrews 1:1-8; Hebrews 7:26)
- We believe man was created in God's image, but by man's transgression, he became separated from God. All who reach the age of accountability are responsible for their sinful deeds. (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3; John 3:3; Romans 3:10, 12, 23)
- We believe that Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross at Calvary and His precious blood was shed as a ransom for all. He was buried and then He raised Himself on the third day. Through His death and resurrection, we are saved and justified. (Romans 4:25; Romans 5:8; I Corinthians 15:3-4; I Timothy 2:6; I Peter 1:18-19)
- We believe the bread and the fruit of the vine in Holy Communion symbolize the body and the blood of Christ. A closed Communion (believers only) is observed by the church following self-examination by the members. (Matthew 26:26-30; I Corinthians 10:16; I Corinthians 11:17-32; II Corinthians 6:14-18)
- We believe both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; the saved unto eternal life and the lost unto eternal damnation. (Daniel 12:2; John 3:16; John 5:28-29; II Peter 3:7-9; Revelation 20:12-15)
- We believe that a true conversion is evidenced by a spiritual rebirth, restoration of peace with God and man, the fruit of the Spirit, and obedience to God's Word. (Romans 5:1; Galatians 5:22-26; I Peter 1:23; I John 2:3-6)
- We believe following a testimony of faith and conversion, a covenant of faithfulness to God is made. Baptism of faith (by immersion) is administered in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27; Hebrews 10:16-17; I Peter 3:21)
-
We believe the New Testament Church appeared in two distinct aspects:
- A fellowship of converted men and women (known as Brothers and Sisters), with Christ as Head, functioning in accord with New Testament teachings. (Matthew 18:20; I Corinthians 1:10; Colossians 1:18)
- The glorious Church (the Bride of Christ, including all saints of all ages) to be manifest fully at the return of Christ Jesus. (I Corinthians 15:52; Ephesians 5:27; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
- We believe repentance is a key aspect of true faith in Christ's redemptive work on Calvary. The fruits of repentance are a humble and contrite heart, prayer, godly sorrow, confession to God, forsaking of all sin, and a forgiving spirit. (Psalm 34:18; Proverbs 28:13; Matthew 3:6-8; Matthew 18:21-35; Luke 14:33; Acts 17:30; Acts 19:18; II Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 11:6; I John 1:9)
- We believe that believers live separated, sanctified lives, and do not conform to the world. Discipline of erring members is administered for their spiritual welfare and for the preservation of the church. (Matthew 18:15-17; John 17:14-16; Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 5; Galatians 6:1; I Thessalonians 5:22; II Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15; James 1:14-15; James 4:4; I Peter 1:14-15; I John 2:15-17)
- We believe that the church is built upon the Lord Jesus Christ. As a closely knit body of believers, we share in each others joys and sorrows in the true spirit of brotherhood. The church seeks to grow in the love of Christ and the understanding of His Word. The church extends a gracious invitation to all to come and worship in spirit and in truth. (Matthew 11:28; John 4:24; John 6:35-37; I Corinthians 1:10; I Corinthians 3:11; I Corinthians 12:25-26; Ephesians 4:16)
- We believe in the eternal security of the believer -- salvation cannot be lost. (John 1:12; John 3:16; John 5:24; John 10:28-30; Ephesians 2:8)
